The Dwarf Athletic Association of Canada (DAAC) supports and connects Canadians with dwarfism through sport, recreation, and activity. Through peer-to-peer sports and athletics, DAAC is dedicated to increasing the health and wellbeing of those with dwarfism in Canada, regardless of their skill level. DAAC is dedicated to raising awareness and educating the general public about dwarfism.
Duties and goals of this summer youth contract position:
The Program and Event Coordinator will help to plan events, with a main focus being the 2025 Fundraising walk/run in Guelph, and the 2026 DAAC Sports Retreat in British Columbia. You will work with your counterpart in British Columbia, and report to the supervising board member. Other job would include administration duties, outreach, volunteer management, as well as seeking and securing funding and donation opportunities; at all times maintaining a good working relationship on its behalf with the public.
Assist the Supervising Director and President to attain the following key objectives:
- Program and Event Planning: Assist with planning events, specifically the 2025 Fundraising Walk/Run, and 2026 Sports Retreat.
- Program and Activities: Assist with programs and activities, as required.
- Fundraising: Assist with obtaining ongoing and sustainable financial support for DAAC.
Activities to include but are not limited to:
- Program and Activities:
- Directly responsible to the Supervising Director for coordination of Programs and Activities.
- Work jointly with the Supervising Director on all aspects including but not limited to:
– Program support and development as required.
– The planning, preparation, and implementation of all activities as requested.
– The recruitment of volunteers for the programs and activities as requested. - Work jointly with the President and Supervising Director on all aspects but not limited to:
– Researching and booking venues for events
– Connecting with national and local sports organizations to help run programming
– Accept and document the application of potential volunteers, members, athletes and affiliates
(including parent, guardian, child, youth, etc)
– Assist with the screening of potential volunteers.
- Fundraising:
Assist with obtaining ongoing and sustainable financial support for the organization. Directly responsible to the President and/or Supervising Director for coordination of fundraising event:
– Researching and identifying potential opportunites for partnership and donations
– Maintain a record of fundraising activities and donations received.
– Participate in fundraising events as requested.
– Send thank you notes as required for fundraising events and donations.
– Contact potential funders and donors - Administration Support:
– Filing – maintain office files/agency forms as required
– Assist with athlete packages and distribution
– Develop copy and outline for graphics and marketing materials
– Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Supervising Director
Qualifications:
– experience with event planning, coordination, and execution an asset.
– having worked in a not-for-profit environment (volunteer or otherwise) an asset.
– A positive role model and able to interact in a positive supportive manner with children, youth, volunteers and community members;
– Experience with marketing and fundraising as an asset
– Ability to work independently.
– Willingness to learn program operations and policies of DAAC
– A firm conviction of DAAC’s purpose and objectives.

The job will be full-time, with flexible hours as required to properly coordinate and operate fundraising events and operations. Please note: You will be required to have access to and use of your own computer.
Successful Applicant Criteria: Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age.* The successful candidate would have a special understanding of the dwarfism community with the ability to represent and express the perspective of a person with dwarfism. The ideal applicant would have strong verbal, written and organizational skills with the ability to meet project milestones and deadlines through open dialogue with their supervisor via meetings and progress reports.

CANADA SUMMER JOBS FUNDED POSITIONS HIRING CRITERIA
*This employment opportunity is supported through the Government of Canada’s Summer Jobs Program. As a reminder to be an eligible applicant, this grant requires a youth:
